The story of tea begins in China. According to legend, in 2737 BC, Emperor Shen Nung was sitting beneath a tree whilst his servant boiled drinking water. Some leaves from the nearby tree blew into the water, and Shen Nung, an avid herbalist, decided to try the concoction.
Who knows if that is true, but the earliest evidence of tea drinking comes from China, dating back to the 2nd century BC. People used it as medicine, drank it as a savoury broth (with ginger, onions and spices) and finally prepared it as a beverage by simply steeping leaves in hot water.
There are lots of types of tea, and within those types, many more varieties. We will change our offerings from time to time, so come back and try something else.
